Dunedin water

See map of fluoridated area.

The following information is provided by Gerard McCombie, Water Production Manager, Water & Waste Services, Dunedin City Council:

Most, but not all, of Dunedin's water is fluoridated. Currently, fluoride to be added to the water produced by the city's two main water treatment plants at Mt Grand and Southern reservoir.

No fluoride is added at the city's other, smaller water treatment plants: Waikouaiti, Port Chalmers, the five Mosgiel treatment plants (Severn St, Eden St, Reid Ave, Watt St, Old Yard), Outram, West Taieri and Rocklands.

In 2009-10, close to 88% of the water produced was fluoridated.

Port Chalmers, Roseneath, Sawyers Bay, Careys Bay and Deborah Bay areas are normally supplied with fluoridated water for most of the year from the Mt Grand plant, but not during the spring and summer, when that area is often supplied from the Port Chalmers plant.
