Hamilton water
The following abridged information is provided by Maire Porter, Water Operations Manager, City Waters, Hamilton City Council:
Fluoride in the form of Hydrofluorosilicic acid (HFA) is added to Hamilton City's water supply as per Hamilton City Council policy (ratified by a binding community referendum in 2006).
The HFA that is dosed is sourced from Orica, a New Zealand chemical supplier that supplies HFA in accordance with specifications within the "Standard for the Supply of Fluoride for Use in Water Treatment" published by the New Zealand Water and Waste Association (now referred to as Water New Zealand). This standard outlines the purity requirements for HFA to be added to drinking water.
