END WATER FLUORIDATION IN NEW PLYMOUTH DISTRICT

We the undersigned call on the New Plymouth District Council to end water fluoridation.

We oppose Fluoridation for the following reasons:
1. Recent research indicates dental health is not improved by the ingestion of fluoride.
2. The argument for fluoridation is based on outdated studies which were flawed.
3. The supposed benefits of fluoridation have been grossly exaggerated.
4. Fluoride is not a component of natural living systems and is a poison.
5. Fluoridation has been linked to numerous serious health problems.
6. Infants are particularly susceptible to the ill-effects of fluoride.
7. The fluoridation agent may be contaminated with heavy metals.
8. Most countries in the world do not fluoridate their water.
9. Fluoridation is mass medication; enforced medication without consent is immoral.
10. Alternative methods are available for those who wish to fluoridate their tooth enamel.
